When I first began this blog about a year ago, I thought I’d probably write a post once a week. That ‘good idea’ didn’t last too long and then I settled into about once a month. As I look back over 2012, I find I only missed one month when I had quite a bit of company. Not too bad I guess.
So now it’s 2013 and I’ve already missed a month….sigh! The problem now is I have so much going on in my head that I don’t know where I want to focus when I sit to write. God is teaching me so much and showing me so many things I’ve never thought about before. I’ve asked Him many times to help me not put any kind of boundaries on Him according to ‘tradition’ or keep Him in any kind of ‘box’. I feel like for now in my life, He’s blowing the lid off all my boxes simultaneously! 🙂 I actually love this because I want to know Him for Who He really is and not for Who we’ve made Him to be….Selah!
You may recall from my last post in December, Serendipity, that He is teaching me many new things about healing and the use of the ‘healing oils of the Bible’. The author of the book I read on that topic (Dr. David Stewart) actually came and did a weekend conference in my home earlier this month. That would be the main reason I haven’t written so far this year….getting ready for that event was a BIG project.
Anyway, I have continued to have healing on my mind quite a bit. This morning I am pondering a question and I’d love your thoughts.
Jesus sent His disciples out ‘two by two’ to basically do two things:
- Preach the gospel.
- Heal the sick.
Luke 9:2 and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Why does the majority of the Christian church practice #1 and not #2? Why are young ministers taught classes in preaching and not healing? You may say, “Healing is a gift and not everyone has that gift”. And to that I would say, “Faith is a gift also, but aren’t we all to practice faith?” In Luke 10 Jesus told the 72 to go out and anoint with oil and heal….did all 72 have the ‘gift’ of healing? I don’t think so….
We are told in Mark chapter 6:
Mark 6:12 They went out and preached that people should repent.
Mark 6:13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
I am learning in my studies there is really something to the ‘anointing with oil’ part of healing the sick. This is a fascinating study! I encourage you to consider studying this topic and you might want to begin as I did by reading “Healing Oils of the Bible” by Dr. Stewart. That’s what started me on my journey but using the healing oils and seeing their results keeps me on the journey.
I’ll give you just one example: For about the past 10 years, I’ve had to use a steroid nasal spray for my sinuses. This began after several winters of bronchitis and one even of pneumonia. I learned I didn’t want that again so I found the steroid helped keep me from getting so sick.
This winter I began using Peppermint oil to open up my sinuses and I have not needed the steroid at all. Now which would you rather put in your body? A natural plant substance or a steroid. For me there is no question!
God’s healing oils really do work, however, I will caution you that you must use a pure therapeutic grade essential oil and not one that has been adulterated, engineered, or ‘extended’ with the use of synthetic-made compounds. But think about it…..the oils come from plants and God is the One that spoke the plants into existence.
Genesis 1:11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.
I read a quote this morning by D. Gary Young of Young Living Essential Oils. He said about God’s essential oils, “It is so sad that many turn away because of traditional beliefs.” and “…the way to live with strength and vitality without pain and disease lies in what God has created, not in what man has altered.” Everything God created is good! His Life is instilled in His Creation. No wonder the oils can heal!
Genesis 1:12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
